Quaratined

Coronavirus has been affecting the whole world. My partner and I planned on filming our last scene during this week but could not due to the virus. Schools have been closed in our area so meeting up has been harder than usual. Also, my dog passed away and I needed some time to mourn. Not just our filming has been disturbed but major film companies are also being affected. Disney has an upcoming live action filmed based off of the famed movie Mulan. This release has been delayed due to Covid-19. Sony also has a new movie 'The New Mutants" which has also been delayed. Sony and Paramount movies have also been delayed. This virus has really put the world on pause. On the other hand streaming services would benefit somewhat from quarantine. Many people are staying in their homes to avoid getting the virus. Many people while bored try to pick up new shows or watch new movies. Netflix is one very popular streaming service. It has a variety of genres so it favors to many audiences. This streaming service can also be accessed on many devices so it is accessible. Also, it has shows that have hour long episodes or many seasons so it can cure many peoples boredom for a while. There are more services that also benefit besides Netflix. Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney plus. Many who have these services will be using them more and many will be getting them to cure boredom. I personally have started a new series on Netflix name All American. I also have been watching random episodes of my favorite show on Hulu.

Re-editing Blog

We had to re edit our movie. We filmed new footage and had to edit it to fit with our old footage. My group partner is the main editor in our group. This is because I prefer filming. We re filmed a scene towards the beginning. This caused us to cut out the other scene and insert the better footage. I also suggested we take out the sound in one scene. This scene is supposed to consists of the actors names rolling whilst the main gets ready. We decided instead of physically showing the main getting ready we would just insert the audio. So we had to take the audio out of this clip. We recently filmed more footage for our movie which caused unexpected changes. I had suggested we filmed yesterday but we ran into trouble. This caused us to change the date of filming. Some of our actors were unable to attend but we wanted to film as soon as possible. I suggested we replace one of the actors with speaking roles with another boy who had come along with us to film. I then realized this meant we had to change some of the titles in our movie. We have to completely cut one actor out of the title. We also have to cut another actors name out and replace it with the new actors name. We still have a little more editing to do. Overall, I feel our movie is coming along great.

Reshoot Blog

We had to reshoot our opening scene to our film. We could not do it over the weekend so we decided to refilm it last Monday. We had to reshoot a part in which the main actress had to turn off her alarm. The actress did not put her finger in frame last time so we had to redo it. After we finally got her finger in frame we moved to the kitchen. We still had to film the kitchen scene since we ran out of time last filming session. We went to the kitchen but soon realized we did not film the protagonist putting the phone in their pocket. Once we filmed that we went downstairs again to the kitchen. There, filming took longer since we had different point of views in this scene. We had to plan this one out more since it involved certain things. I helped to create fake Instagram stories and time them right to fit with the scene. We first had to film the phone from the protagonists point of view and then from the phones point of view. This had to be timed so when a certain post came up the camera switched to the phones POV. I helped work out what our other actress would be doing during the scene. Audrey is our other actress who is on a phone call during the scene. I had to film it sideways to go with editing and at a certain distance away so my reflection could not be seen. We also had to reshoot the outside scenes. When it was first filmed we did not realize me feet were in the shot so we had to redo it. That was all left to reshoot so far. Overall reshooting went very well.

Peer Review

Today we were assigned to peer review our class mates movie openings. We had certain people that we would peer review. I was given a paper with the criteria on what to be looking for. We had to find out if the video was the correct length and if it told a story. I had to judge whether the transitions were clean or choppy. I had to see if the opening had the correct titles in the right order. I had to see if there was good lighting and sound. Mostly I had to find if there were the correct shots. Some shots I had to find included establishing shots and medium shots. I had to find if there was diegetic or non diegetic sound. I also had to see if camera movements were included like pans and tilts. I also had to give feedback on the film. I had to write one thing I liked about the film. I also had to write about one suggestion I would make to the film. Sadly, I was unable to write any of this for the person I was assigned to peer review. The person did not appear the day of peer review so I was unable to get their movie opening. This was really unfortunate since I was looking forward to peer reviewing. I was interested in what direction my classmates decided to go with for their movies. I also thought it would be a nice change of perspective to become the reviewer. It was still nice though that my film is got peer reviewed and I am excited to hear the feedback.
